130 acres of rolling Surrey countryside, flanked by parkland on one side and the wooded Shirley Hills on the other. A par 71 golf course, with 38 sand bunkers and providing plenty of variety...the 1st is a difficult up-hill par 4 and there are some interesting par 3’s, including our signature holes on the 7th and 13th, then the challenging par 5 dog-leg 9th and the tempting 18th with the only water hazard on the golf course.
Shirley Park golf course was originally designed by Herbert Fowler in 1914 and he was also involved in helping to design another well-known local golf course, Walton Heath.
Over more recent years, our green-keepers have built a fantastic reputation for our superb greens, despite all extreme weather conditions. Amongst others, we host regular pro-am events, which are always very well attended.... a great testimony to the quality of the golf course.
Shirley Park Golf Club boasts a terrific scratch team with some highly-skilled single handicap golfers. There are quite a few club teams, representing all levels of handicaps and in fact the average handicap in the club will more than likely be in the high teens. Most golfers love Shirley Park Golf Club because our course is generally very playable, yet it still provides quite a few challenges to golfers of all standards.
